After high school I
went to trade school in Pocatello for
printing. Next was the army,
then college at Moscow and St Louis.
J.C. Penney in Wisconsin and then back to
I.F.
I, then, worked for Ken Slusser for six
years and then taught school for thirty at
Skyline High,
the local competition for dear old I.F.H.S.
I married a local girl name Lorraine Leaf.
We raised five children. When I
started teaching, I wasn't in the building
for two hours when in walked Mr. Ballard to
welcome me into the profession. They
system didn't have mentors, but Mrs.
Longmore was across the hall and she took me
under her wing. One spring morning two
ladies walked in. They were Ethel
Rottman and Ester Garland. They had
hardly changed. Home for them was now
a retirement center in California.
I was in the business department and had a
desk next to Gladys Holmberg for twenty
years. Although she wasn't around when
I taught, Zuma Hale as an important
influence in my going on to college.
Isn't life strange and wonderful.
Today it seems as
though everything about schools and
education are criticized. I found our
was very good and so were the people who
worked there and all of you out there.
I look to see many
of you at the reunion.
