Brigham Young's Winter Home,

The original portion of this home was built in 1869-1871. The front
additions was completed in 1873. Brigham Young, second president of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, became Dixie's
first "snowbird, leaving the snow of Salt Lake City behind and
spending the winters here in St George's temperate climate. Open
daily from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Canyonland Rock Climbing,

Bring the fun to you with their 25
foot portable climbing wall. Other portables include an infalatable
slide (25 feet tall and 18 feet wide and 40 feet long), an
obstacle course (10 feet by 37 feet) and an octopus (23 feet by 17
feet) all of which are available for rent. A perfect choice to
enhance any family reunion, church event or business promotion.
Daughter's of the Utah Pioneers

Completed in 1938, this building was
financed by Mrs. Hortense McQuarrie for the express purpose of
housing pioneer relics. Next to the pioneer courthouse and the
chamber, the museum is staffed by volunteers and is usually open
Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Dinosaurs Come to Life

Johnson's Farm Dinosaur Tracks,

Even though there are hundreds of dinosaur tracks in the area, the
largest and most accessible are at the Johnson Farm. Since they
were discovered in 2000, visitors have come from every state and 46
countries to see this impressive find. You can also view dinosaur
tracks at Warner Valley. Come to the Chamber of Commerce office for
directions to these dinosaur tracks. Usually open Monday thru
Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

The Silver Reef Museum

It also houses the Jerry Anderson Studio & Gallery. Silver Reef is
one of the most popular ghost towns in the area.
It was a booming
economy in in 1870's. The camp produced $9 million in Silver from
1877 to 1903. This unique
town had homes, churches, a variety of
specialty shops, a brothel and even a Chinatown.
Grafton
You will find the town of Grafton between Springdale and
La Verkin on Highway 9 as you are driving toward Zion
National
Park. Grafton is reached by crossing the Virgin River over the old
truss bridge in Rockville.
Portions of
the movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were
filmed in Grafton in 1969. Visitors can see the remains
of pioneer homes, the church and the cemetery. Between 1860
and 1868, there were only about 30 families
living there. The great flood of 1861
forced the settlement to move to high ground the first year and the
Virgin river
rose every year which increased destruction. Indian
attacks were frequent. Most of the residents left by 1868.
Harrisburg
Located just off I-15 12 miles north of the City of St George.
Harrisburg was a pioneer town
founded in 1859 by Moses Harris and sons. When the 1862 floods hit
the town they abandoned the original site and settled on the other
side of what is now Interstate 15. Many of the houses of Harrisburg
are still seen in the valley.

If you are fortunate enough to be in
the area between Memorial Day and Labor Day don't miss the
opportunity to acquaint yourself with the history and culture of the
area. Historic figures come alive at six sites and describe living
in Dixie
at the turn of the century. Entertaining and educational
for the whole family. Tuesday-Saturday at 9:00 am and 10:30 am.
Tickets are $2.00 for adults and children under 12 are free. Tours
begin at the St George Art Museum. S

I-MAX - Zion Canyon Giant Screen

Start your Zion Canyon experience with "Treasure of the Gods" an
impressive film, stretching across time and season, exploring the
legends of Zion and the Southwest. The film is shown daily on a
six-story screen. The theatre complex includes a Paiute Indian
exhibit, gift shops, bookstore, deli and picnic areas and is open
year round, seven days a week.
Jacob Hamblin Home & Museum,

Santa Clara Drive, Santa Clara, UT
Jacob Hamblin's Home & Museum is located west of Santa Clara on Hwy
91. Jacob Hamblin, one of the earliest
settlers of Santa Clara,
constructed this home in 1862 with local red sandstone and ponderosa
lumber from Pine Valley.
It is decorated with many original
artifacts. Open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (winter) and to 7:00
pm (summer).
Pine Valley Chapel
Forest Road and 35 East, Pine Valley, UT
The chapel was built in 1868 by
Ebenezer Bryce, a shipbuilder. The interior looks like a
over-turned ship. Visitors
can climb the winding staircase to the
attic to see the open beams where there is an artifacts room. You
will see it
when you enter Pine Valley on Highway 18. Located 30
miles north of St George. It is the oldest LDS chapel still in
use
and is open to the public every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day
11:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Sundays there
are church meetings held at
the chapel from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

This multi-million dollar facility
offers great family escapes from the summer heat and year-round
fun.
The Aquatic Center is comprised of a 25,000 sq feet enclosed
by a fabric exo-skeleton with a heating and ventilation system The
unique design makes for great swimming experiences both winter and
summer.
The facility includes a 25 m x 25 yd competition and diving pool and
a 5800 sq foot leisure pool. The leisure pool
has a zero depth
entry area with interactive children's water fun toys. A water
walk and slides, various sprays
and moving water provide the
ultimate aquatic experience for the entire family. Hours are
scheduled for open
swimming as well as family and lap swimming.
This facility is available to rent for private pool parties Friday
evenings from 9:00 to 10:30 pm and Saturday evenings beginning at
6:30 pm. after regular pool hours.
St George Skate Park

"It's one of the best I've ever
skated on!" "It's great fun." are the comments heard about this new
city skate park located next to Fiesta Fun Center. It provides
challenges and opportunities for skaters with a variety of pools,
ramps and rails.

St George Temple and Visitor

This famous temple was built in 1877
and is the oldest temple still in use for the Church of Jesus Christ
of
Latter Day Saints. Centrally located the impressive, white
monument can be seen from anywhere in the city.

to tour the Visitor Center, open daily from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Construction of this historic Mormon monument took 13 years. The
fact that it was completed at the same time,
the temple, courthouse
and the settler's homes were under construction is indeed a tribute
to the industry of
the early settlers. The stone for the three-foot
basement walls was hand-quarried from the foothills near the city.
The twin spiral staircases were hand carved, complete with
balustrades and railing. The clock was made in
London and shipped
to St George.
Free music recitals are offered every day Monday through Saturday at
12:15 pm.

You won't find a finer tennis facility than the Tonaquint Tennis
Center. The 8-court complex is complete
with court separations,
canopies and bathrooms. What has become the most popular tennis

Tri-state region, The Super Saturday Weekly Tennis

Throughout the area
There are nearly 30 miles of scenic
walking and biking paths throughout the St George area. They
connect
neighborhood parks, riparian corridors, picturesque desertscapes and the town center. The City of St George alone
offers 22 parks for your enjoyment. A major goal of the master plan
is to provide a neighborhood park within
one-half mile of every
home. Washington County takes pride in
their 26 excellent city parks with playgrounds,
ball fields and
courts, picnic facilities, fishing pools, all designed for family
fun.
